A Bazaar find

So I love food and therefore eating out and trying as many different restaurants as possible. I will try out any place at least once because some of the best places are the ones many people don’t know about. I happened to discover this fact last Friday.

I had heard about this restaurant in town called Eastern Bazaar, everyone who went there had only good things to say about it so I thought I would give it a try – plus nothing was more than R35 on the menu. Now you might be thinking it’s too good to be true I mean how could this restaurant be so cheap? So with knowing all this information I went expecting the restaurant to be a hole in the ground with the terrible food. Well exactly the opposite was true.

Eastern Bazaar had all types of food like Indian, Chinese, Italian and all other kinds I hadn’t seen before. The food was so good and I couldn’t believe how much you got for the price you paid. The restaurant surprisingly wasn’t a hole in the ground but was decorated in an oriental theme.

So for anyone that likes food and isn’t looking to break the bank I would recommend Eastern Bazaar. You are spoilt for choice of what you want and you won’t leave disappointed.

Death by Vodka

So for the first time a few nights ago I tried something I had never tried before...Caramel vodka. It was good but the problem is that when it tastes so good it’s easy to forget that in the end it’s still vodka. I remembered that fact when I woke up the next morning with a monster hangover. I blame the vodka.
After a few bad nights I swore off vodka for good but after I heard of all the amazing flavours I couldn’t resist. With flavours like caramel, candyfloss and chocolate it’s hard not to be tempted. After taking a few shots I knew straight away that I was going to regret it in the morning. Luckily for me I only took two shots while some of my other friends took many more, needless to say they felt like pure death the next day.
Some might say that I just don’t handle my drink well and I will be the first to admit that that’s true but wow I have never had such a bad hangover in my life and I know exactly who the culprit is...the flavoured vodka. It’s sweet, tastes good and sounds like a good idea at the time but take it from me things won’t be so pleasant the next day. If you don’t trust me try it for yourself but don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Elephant in the room

The Oxford English Dictionary gives the first recorded use of the phrase, ‘Elephant in the room’, as a simile, as The New York Times on June 20, 1959: "Financing schools has become a problem about equal to having an elephant in the living room. It's so big you just can't ignore it."
According to Wikipedia, "Elephant in the room" is an English metaphorical idiom for an obvious truth that is being ignored or goes unaddressed. The idiomatic expression also applies to an obvious problem or risk no one wants to discuss. It is based on the idea that an elephant in a room would be impossible to overlook; thus, people in the room who pretend the elephant is not there have chosen to concern themselves with tangential or small and irrelevant issues rather than deal with the looming big one
The term refers to a question, problem, solution, or controversial issue that is obvious, but which is ignored by a group of people, generally because it causes embarrassment or is taboo. The idiom can imply a value judgment that the issue ought to be discussed openly, or it can simply be an acknowledgment that the issue is there and not going to go away by itself. The term is often used to describe an issue that involves a social taboo, such as race, religion, or even suicide. This idiomatic phrase is applicable when a subject is emotionally charged; and the people who might have spoken up decide that it is probably best avoided.

Holiday Time

So after putting in all the hard work to finish off the semester at varsity, we have now been awarded a month and a half long holiday...can I get a whoop whoop! So now the question is now that I have so much free time, what am I going to do with it? All I know is that that isn’t a hard question to answer.

Sleeping late is at the top of my agenda for the holidays, especially due to the fact that it is winter. There is nothing quite like sleeping late when you can hear the pouring rain outside, best feeling ever. So that’s just one of the luxuries I will be awarding myself this holiday. Next I will be doing what I want but guilt free. So many times I would go out shopping or out with friends when I knew I had more important work to attend to. Luckily for me all my friends, or majority of them, are also studying which means they are on holiday along with me, which means spending time with friends is also on the agenda of things to do this holiday and with that comes a bit of partying...which of course I don’t mind.

So now that I have spoken about what I plan to do these holidays I better get to doing it. So happy holidays to all those people on holiday.

Every day is a good day

Everyday isn’t a good day. I have many good days and many bad days. The good days are always more fun, that’s a given, but I always find that my good days can turn bad as a result of other people. How many times in life have you been having a good day until you hear a friend has spoken behind your back, someone has been blatantly rude to you or you have a fight with your boyfriend. These are just some of the things that can ruin a good day, without you even doing anything.

I try, as hard as it might be at times, to stay as happy and positive as possible. There are, however, a few things I think can be done to ensure that is every day is a good day. What I like to do is surround myself with fun, positive and happy people, spend time with my amazing friends, eat good, yummy food and do things that make me smile and laugh. These are just some of the simple things that you can do to have a good day.

I know that these things make me happy, there is nothing like a great meal with great friends to ensure that you have a good day. After all how could you go wrong, food and friends is always a winning combo.
